Polymers reinforced with fibers (e. g. glass or carbon fibers) are known as composites and have significantly improved properties in the direction of the fibers.
The sample (glass fiber reinforced epoxy resin) is pyrolyzed in nitrogen (first step).
The automatic gas change to air allows the combustion of carbon black formed.
The resin content is the sum of two steps (34,5%). The final residue is the glass fiber fraction and amounts to 64,8%.

N2 air: 200 mL/min

Heating rate: 20 K/min up to 600°C, 10 min isotherm.
